FAQ
Why am I getting a black square in the center of my television screen?
The Closed Caption function is set in the “text” mode. To remove it, access Closed Caption in the menu and change the Mode setting from “text” to “off”.

On some channels I am getting another language or sometimes no sound at all.
That would indicate that the MTS mode on your unit is set to “SAP” mode. We suggest setting the MTS mode to either “Stereo” or “Mono”. For further instruction, please see “Audio Adjust” or “Multichannel TV Sound (MTS)” in your operator manual.

When I turn off my television, there is a white flash on the screen. Is this normal?
Yes, this is normal. That is the picture tube flashing off.

My “View-timer” was engaged and I can’t seem to turn it off.
We suggest pressing the View Time button on your remote control, then after releasing, press and hold the Channel Up and Down buttons on the television itself to disable it.

Can I connect headphones to my television using the audio input jack on the unit?
We do not recommend it. That connector is used to send signals into your television. We suggest connecting headphones to a headphone jack, if your model has one.

When changing channels on my television, it shows a minus, and it doesn’t change the channels.
To change the channels on your television, you must use two digits. So when changing channels from a two digit station to a single digit station, you must use a “0” first.

I am not getting all of my channels on the television.
  • Check the connection for an incoming signal.
  • Press menu on your Sharp television remote to access the main menu screen. Access the set up menu and then access CH setting to get to the EZ Setup mode to reprogram your channels.

I have connected an external source to my television and I get no picture and or sound.
  • Check for the correct output connection on the external source and for the correct input connection on the television.
  • Make sure you have made the correct selection for the input mode for the incoming source.
  • Check for the correct settings in the Audio Select menu on your television.

My remote control does not work my television.
  • Check to see that the television is still plugged in at the outlet.
  • If you have a television with a universal remote, be sure to select the TV mode on the remote.
  • If the remote still does not work reset the remote by removing the batteries. Then press the power button down for 30 seconds. Replace the batteries and press TV and then power to turn on the television.
  • If the problem still exists, check and change the batteries if needed.
  • With a universal remote if you have reset or changed the batteries you will need to reprogram the remote for the other units.

I am getting the same picture on both screens on my picture in picture television.
  • With a single tuner television you will need to have an incoming source such as a VCR for the second picture.
  • Check the connections for an incoming antenna signal for both units. You will have to split the signal if you have one incoming antenna signal.
  • Press PIP on your Sharp television remote, and then press the select button to access the channel or input mode.
